1. What is CranioSacral and Restriction Release Therapy?
CranioSacral© Therapy {CST} is a gentle, non-intrusive Osteopathic method of evaluating and enhancing the function of the craniosacral system. This physiological system of the body is comprised of membranes and the cerebrospinal fluid that surrounds and protects the brain and spinal cord. CST improves the function of the central nervous system by releasing restrictions in it.
CST can be effective for a wide range of medical problems associated with chronic pain and dysfunction as a result of conditions such as Lupus, Fibromyalgia, Migraines, Autism, Scoliosis, Chronic Fatigue, TMJ, Learning Disabilities {ADD, ADHD},Sleep Disorders as well as the effects of treatments such as Chemotherapy and Radiation.
The American Cancer Society understands that Craniosacral Therapy can be advantageous for individuals with cancer, including those with mesothelioma, a rare form of cancer attributed to previous asbestos exposure. When used in harmony with cancer treatment methods like chemotherapy or radiation, Craniosacral Therapy may relieve headaches and pain throughout the body, restore a feeling of balance and calm, and can even promote immune system function. For more mesothelioma information please visit Mesothelioma.com.
It can also be beneficial to victims of traumatic head and spinal injuries and bring increased quality of life to those experiencing end of life transition or are in hospice care. Jim also offers Restriction Release Therapy, an amazingly effective therapy developed by the schools of Osteopathic Medicine for managing pain from a multitude of different causes. Osteopathic medicine has been using RRT for pain management for over 40 years. Recent medical research has identified that restrictions within curtain systems of the body (nervous, muscular, spinal, lymph, and fascia) contributes greatly to chronic pain associated with such conditions as MS, Fybromyalgia, Lupus, Chronic Fatigue and a host of other dysfunction (see list below) that cause poor quality of life.
Restrictions within the fascia in particular can result in chronic pain, restrictions to body movement and organ function. Fascia is the connective tissue that surrounds and covers every muscle and organ in the body. Fascia connective tissue is continuous throughout the body and carries electrical current as does the central nervous system. It is in constant communication with the nervous system and is an integral part of it.
Using the energy produced by RRT, the Therapist stimulates the release of restrictions in the fascia. This kind of release allows the fluids and electrical properties of tissues and organs to flow normally again, restoring healthy equilibrium.

Deep Peace Therapy
Jim has combined CST, Restriction Release Therapy and many other healing modalities to create an amazingly effective and enjoyable modality that produces a deep level of healing within the entire body.
2. Description of the therapy process.
Each CST/RRT session takes approximately 30 to 45 minutes. It is recommended that one wear loose fitting clothing. An atmosphere is created to facilitate your relaxation with low lighting and gentle music in the background. You are covered with a light blanket as you lie face up on a massage table. The session starts with the Therapist gently holding your head as an evaluation of your cranial pulse is performed. Using approximately five {5} grams of pressure {the weight of a nickel} your cranial sacral system is brought into balance and then slowed to a still point. This is a place where your central nervous system is at a lull or point of little agitation. By restoring the CS system to a balanced state, the effects of the conditions named above are reduced or eliminated. Restriction Release Therapy is usually included with a standard CST session.
Restriction Release Therapy
During this therapy, a motorized Percussor is applied gently to key points on the body. The energy produced by the instrument travels throughout the fascia and other systems of the body releasing restrictions found within them. As the tissues release, normal function is realized immediately but the effect continues for several hours resulting in further restoration of healthy function. A RRT session without CST takes only about 10 to 20 minuets.
Conditions that are effectively address with RRT include:
Spinal and pelvic misalignments and fixations Shoulder, elbow, wrist, and hand pain
Hip, knee, ankle, and foot problems Temporomandibular joint (TMJ)
Deep and superficial fascia release Relieve tense muscles
Release joints Myofascial pain
Spasticity Scar tissue and adhesions
Post exertion muscle fatigue Speeds surgical recovery
Cranial suture fixations and misalignment Craniosacral respiratory balancing
Lymphatic drainage congestion Diaphragmatic spasm/hiatal hernia
Emotionally-related abdominal contractions Visceral manipulations
Congestion lymphatic impairment Decreases need for medication
MS, Fybromyalgia, Lupus, Chronic Fatigue Side effects of Chemotherapy
Side effects of Radiation Chronic sinus problems
3. Professional Recommendations and testimonials
Jim's work serves as a doorway for entering a state of effortlessness and grace. Through his gentle treatment, patients can be transported to a calm, clear, open space, where they can stop "being" and simply relax into a deep unshakeable contentment of mind, body and spirit. Dr. T Feeney, DO
I have worked with Jim for five years and have seen his ability to gently take patients to a neutral place where deep peace abides. Here, the nervous system has a chance to rest, rejuvenate and move towards healing and wellness. Over the years, Jim has continually demonstrated his ability to guide others toward their inner harmony and to the seat of their own healing. Amy Fretz, BSN, RN
Client Testimonials:
A serious car accident has left me with reoccurring whiplash symptoms which are hard to relieve, so I am especially grateful for how effective these sessions are for my neck, back, shoulders, hips, and the over-all pain and stiffness I have.
CST, and RRT in particular, seems to loosen and 'lighten' my sore muscles and give me an overall feeling of well-being and increased flexibility."
NLM, from Australia.
"I was scheduled for surgery to correct severe incontinence when I received RRT from Jim. I experienced immediate relief and after several sessions found myself completely free of the condition."
MJ from the Bitterroot Valley, MT.
"After trying many types of therapies, including standard physical therapy, Acupuncture and Chiropractic, from which I received only limited reduction of symptoms, I thought I would have to spend the rest of my life in debilitating pain as the result of an auto accident.
I was referred to Jim by other practitioners and finally found marked progress in pain management through CST and Restriction Release Therapy. Thank you for giving me my life back!"
MW from the Bitterroot Valley, MT.

4. Biographical Information
Jim received his training in CranioSacral© Therapy from the Upledger Institute and studied therapeutic techniques of Cranial Osteopathy, Restriction Release Therapy and cellular memory release for eight years with the well known Osteopath and instructor of Cranial Osteopathy, Dr. T. Feeney, DO. He was a partner with Dr. Feeney at her clinic in central Colorado that specializing in pain management. In 2001 he moved his practice to northwest Montana. There Jim has worked with Dr. Norma Gilmore, Ed.D. in ground breaking cranial therapy for children with learning disabilities.
In 2007, Jim joined the growing team of integrative practitioners at the Guardian Oncology and Wellness Clinic in Missoula, Montana to bring Dr. Judy Schmidt's vision of providing her patients with the broadest base of quality health care into reality.
Jim has gone beyond traditional CranioSacral work to develop "Deep Peace Therapy", a much deeper level of "nuro-relaxation", a way to quiet the nervous system as well as the conscious mind, thus allowing the clients body to be in a place where natural self-healing occurs.
Jim is the project coordinator for Montana Integrative Therapies, a 501c non-profit project that provides at little or no cost, non-allopathic forms of health support to those who are in Hospice care, extended care facilities and those who are chronically ill.
Jim also has over 25 years experience as a Senior Biomedical Engineer with one of the largest High Tech medical instrumentation companies in the world and is a member of the International Association of Health Practitioners.
Jim offers private CST/RRT sessions at his offices in Hamilton and Darby, Montana. Jim has created a curriculum for teaching the methods of Restriction Release Therapy to health practitioners, conducting classes throughout the United States.
Jim is the author of the book, The Way of the Sacred Pipe and is a spiritual adviser for a federally recognized Native American church and has served on the advisory board of the E.T. Seton Institute of Santa Fe, NM.

6. An article about how a near Death Experience changed Jim's Practice
Near Death Experience (NDE) adds a new dimension to local therapist's
treatments
By Gillian Browne
I met Jim Tree-Gilmore last year when I was in need of some powerful and
effective healing modalities to assist me in going through some intense
medical treatments. At the time I firstheard about his practice, Jim was
traveling and doing work in Australia. So I waited for his return to the
Bitterroot Valley, anticipating the "Deep Peace" experience. Jim practices
CranioSacral Therapy© in Hamilton, and is a team member in the Integrated
Therapy program offered by Dr. Judy Schmidt's Guardian Oncology clinic in
Missoula. I was not disappointed.
I have experienced CranioSacral work in the past and knew each therapist brings
their own unique application of the work. Jim is not only well-versed in
the system (his parents also practiced these techniques), but he has
developed his own unique adjunct known as "DeepPeace Therapy". It was a
tantalizing thought achieving deep peace in the midst of stressful
circumstances.
According to Jim, CranioSacral Therapy© (CST) is a gentle, non-intrusive
osteopathic method of evaluating and enhancing the function of the Cranial
Sacral system. This system is comprised of membranes and the cerebrospinal
fluid that surrounds and protects the brain and spinal cord. CST improves
the function of the central nervous system by releasing restrictions in it.
CST can be effective for a wide range of medical problems associated with
chronic pain and dysfunction as a result of conditions such as Lupus,
Fybromyalgia, migraines, Autism, Scoliosis, Chronic Fatigue, TMJ,learning
disabilities, sleep disorders as well as the side effects of invasive
treatments such as chemotherapy. It can also be beneficial to victims of
traumatic head and spinal injuries.
But wait, what about Deep Peace? That's where the near death experience
came into play. A Near Death Experience (NDE) is defined as when a person
is reported clinical dead, but through resuscitation or other medical
intervention is revived back to life. According to Jim, there are well
over 10,000 documented cases of NDE's to date. (One of the most detailed
and interesting accounts can be read in Dannion Brinkley's book,
Saved by the Light.)
Jim relays his experience:"In 1999, I was operating a pain management
clinic in central Colorado, when I was bitten 5 times on the back of my
head by a Black Widow spider in October of that year. I was born with a
compromised immune system that made me hypersensitive to stings and
allergens. I went into comatose state and stopped breathing from the
neurotoxins in the spider venom. Fortunately my business partner, Dr.
Feeney, found me and was able to resuscitate me.
While I was clinically dead, I was taken by a "being of light" on an
amazing journey to a village located in a very ancient forest. While there,
I received instruction in many things concerning the mysteries of life and
death. The most important thing I recall was my concern about leaving
behind my teenage daughter who I was raising alone-who would take care of her?
The "Being" accompanying me showed me telepathically that everything was
absolutely perfect for her, even if I died.
I was overwhelmed with a sense of perfect peace, that there was an "All
Powerful Being" orchestrating everything--everything works out perfectly,
even the things that humanly do not appear as good.
I became aware that everyone and everything within the village and forest
were in a state of peace and oneness. This peacefulness permeated everything.
It was a truly deep peace, eliminating all stress and worry and producing a
contentment I had never know before. The most profound thing I returned
with was this ongoing, unshakable deep peace within me.
When the time to return came, a group of eight "Beings" much like the
original "Being of light" gathered around, laid me on the ground encircling
me and chanting. When I awoke, I was lying on my back and Dr. Feeney was
administering CPR. I could still audibly hear the Elders chanting.
According to Jim, it took several months to recover from the effects of
the neurotoxins in his body. He suffered partial paralysis, severe joint
pain, skin reactions, chronic fatigue, as well as short term memory loss.
After fully recovering from all of these symptoms, he began his CST
practice full time again, but now, he states, with a deep empathy for the
suffering his clients experience.
Jim reflects that he began to notice that when he conducted a session with
someone, they often fell asleep and/or went into a deep state of relaxation.
As he experimented with this new dimension in his treatments, he developed
what he now calls "DeepPeace Therapy©."
Having experienced this therapy first-hand, I can attest to a few snores
and breathing so slowly I almost had to remind myself to take the next
breath. The thought occurred to me that my brain was going into Delta
wave activity which is the slowest and most relaxed brainwave frequency
usually attained in dreamless sleep.
Jim concludes: "We find ourselves in a time of medical miracles where
there are several cases of those who would normally have passed over are
being resuscitated, often bringing with them a wonderful gift. Perhaps
this is all part of a grand plan. The important thing is that these
"seeds" of deep peace are being planted in people, not only to enhance
their personal lives, but hopefully to help shift the human experience
from fear and suspicion to one of peace and acceptance.
If enough people allow these seeds of deep peace to take root and grow
with in them, then the way we relate to others can become much more
harmonious and tolerant. As go the people so goes society."
