Information on Percussion Therapy
Fascia is the connective tissue that surrounds and invests nearly every aspect of our bodies tissues. Restrictions in the fascia can both result in pain and more work for our bodies. The fascia and the bones of the body have electrical properties that let them carry electrical current. Fascia covers every muscle, organ and system in the body. Fascial connective tissue is continuous and all-inclusive. Fascia carries an electrical charge and is in constant communication with the nervous system throughout the entire body. Using a mechanical Percussor or Stone Percussion Therapy, the Therapist stimulates the release of restrictions in the fascia through the kinetic energy produced by percussion. This kind of release allows the fluids and electrical properties of tissues and organs to flow normally again, creating motion and restoring healthy equilibrium.
Percussion Therapy has been indicated as beneficial for the following dysfunction and conditions.
Spinal and pelvic misalignments and fixations Shoulder, elbow, wrist, and hand problems
Hip, knee, ankle, and foot problems Temporomandibular joint problems (TMJ)
Deep and superficial fascial release Trigger point therapy
Relieve tense muscles Release joints
